Growing your social media in 2023.

Staying up to date with the latest algorithm developments .

Staying up to date with the latest algorithm developments, new features and constant changes on Instagram can feel like a full time job. That’s why we’re here, to simplify what you can do for growth, because truth be told, there’s actually more than one algorithm at play! These are the top 5 things you can do in the last half of 2023 to grow your Instagram profile.

1. PRIORITISE CAROUSEL POSTS

The platforms, especially Instagram, are favouring posts that users spend a lot of time viewing. This is why carousels are performing so well lately, as we are spending more time scrolling and interacting with carousels over static posts. Try a weekly recap, best selling product dump or turn your long captions into a graphic carousel.

2. USE KEY WORDS

Many of us are turning to social media as our preferred search engine. It’s important to keep this in mind when writing copy for social media. Ask yourself, what key works have I used in this caption? Can this story include a hashtag that someone may search? Is my copy too generic or too broad?

3. POST REELS ON THE REGULAR

There’s no doubt that reels are key when boosting reach on social media right now. As social media managers we find that sometimes the smallest accounts are the ones with the largest reach due to reel views. We know that video content can be timely to create, but exploring the ‘use template’ feature on Instagram creates time stamped templates to guide your own content creation. Simply find a template you like, tap the ‘use template’ icon, insert your own content, add a caption and post! Don’t forget, if you get to the end of the week and have only taken photos, you can always use a series of images to create an engaging reel.

4. CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE

Social media is in fact a social place! Creating an engaged community should be a goal of any business using social media. Connection and interaction is a really great way to build a loyal customer base. Experiment using interactive features on your stories such as question boxes, polls and emoji sliders. Or ask questions in your captions to encourage conversation in your comments or direct messages. Don’t forget, ask questions back to build the relationship with your audience.
